RIP Yoda

Jun 19, 2008 22:18

So as many of you may remember, Jeremy and I have had a pseudo-pet, Yoda for the past two years or so. Technically he and his best kitty friend Fatty belong to our neighbors, but they made friends with us and we've been spoiling them with treats/attention ever since. Fatty is timid and really only likes treats/to be petted outside in his own ( Read more... )

Oh poor Yoda! Uh, poor Fatty, too. Man, this post is so stinkin' sad. :(

Yeah, it's been hard watching Jeremy because he's rarely emotional about anything, but he loves animals more than I think he even loves humans, so his pets are his soft spot.

And Yoda was the first cat Jeremy ever liked, because Yoda was just so strange! He was stubborn, quirky and just full of personality. He was very much a great match for Jeremy. And not sure if I've mentioned this recently, but Jeremy is super allergic to cats. He'd break into hives everytime he cuddled with Yoda, but he just bought some anti-itch cream and ignored it. *sigh*

Fatty is a sweetheart, but he's not the brightest crayon in the box, nor does he have anything near the personality Yoda had. We'll still be showering him with love because we feel so bad for him, but he won't ever quite live up to Yoda.

Awww. :( That's really really sad. I'm so sorry. I hate when a pet dies (even though they weren't 'technically' yours, they sure loved youguys!) What makes it worse is when the kitty that's still alive goes around looking for their friend. :( Were you guys looking for an apt in Denver that allows pets?

We really want to get a dog in the near future - this is the longest Jeremy has gone without a dog of his own and I've never had one before since my dad was afraid of them - but it'll be a while before we can afford the extra rent that goes along with having a pet. The majority of places in Denver allow pets, including our apartment (with a few breed restrictions, which isn't a problem for us), it's just an extra safe desposit and monthly tacked-on fees.

So maybe once we're settled and have jobs we'll be able to afford the extra rent and get a pet? We'll see how it works out. Our apartment complex in Denver actually has lots of walking paths and even a wetlands preserve in the middle, so it'd be a good place for a puppy.

LOL to your dream! I promise I'll never be 96 pounds! lol

For now we're giving all our love to Fatty, since he's going through the loss of Yoda as well. He hasn't left our front porch since the neighbor came to tell us yesterday, as far as we know.
