My old professor called five minutes ago and said I'd be going on a week-long bus tour with Christine Gregoire. There wasn't much room for discussion. Kind of random. I have nothing better to do, so it was a yes.

I got a job offer yesterday, but it seems a little sketchy. The first words out the guy's mouth were, "I used to create ads for community blogs, but I thought if I could just own the media, I'd make a lot more money." Today is really exciting! About a month ago I was contacted by PBS and their show Expose, which is a Bill Moyer's program. They were doing a piece on the earmarks project I worked on with David Heath. So a week later I went into the Seattle Times and they filmed me pretending to work on the story again. Right now, I'm curled up with a beer, a blanket, some Discovery channel show in the background and blogging. Down time is amazing.

I've been really worried lately about the state of journalism. Specifically newspapers, which are pretty much on the out. I think community newspapers will continue thriving, local radio will continue, but major newspapers are dropping circulation fast ( Read more... )
