If that's not enough of a reason, read this:

Although some historians and anthropologists say that man is historically omnivorous, our anatomical equipment teeth, jaws, and digestive system favors a fleshless diet. The American Dietetic Association notes that "most of ( Read more... )

I'm not too much a fan of PETA. They're too hardcore/one sided for me.

sad, some people are ruthless. But i seriously doubt that was in the U.S. That article talks about how we dont have the tools to be natural meat eaters...and how we have to cook our meat and what not. Humans were made to be able to adapt and create the tools we needed to do whatever, including eat meat. With the whole meat not digesting properly, our stomachs dont digest most green leafies properly either. Iceberg letuce doesnt digest at all, we dont have the fluids to break down alot of veggies. Not to mention, most people never chew their food properly...lol. Also...a vast majority of herbivores have more than one stomach so they can regurgitate and break down grass and leaves, cows and camels for example. When was the last time you saw a human puke up something in thier mouths because they wanted to eat it again? Humans DO have sharp teeth meant for cutting meat...they are called inciscors. Birds dont have any teeth at all. Religion was brought into it, there are many cases in the bible where ppl ate meat, one inparticular ( ... )

P.S., we arent herbivores OR carnivores. We are omnivores....we are one of the few species that eat both. ^_^

hmmm, i want to say i agree with the early people, but they only lived to be about twenty or thirty, plus, the slaughter of animals helps slow down the supply of vegetables, an all vegetable or fruit market would destroy the soil, even with new techniques. plus, third world countries need to eat, and animals are a faster way. i think that only people in first world countries should be vegetarians or vegans. because their is an extreme difference in choice and survival. i am not against it, i am a vegetarian too. but i don not beleive in animal rights at all. humans are the dominant specie, for now.

if starving people in third world countries ate meat their bodies would reject it because their stomach isnt use to something that is that hard to digest. meat might be a faster way, but it is definitley not a healthy way. foods that are rich in vegetable protein should be used, like soy, broccoli, or spinach. that would be the most effective thing. and then let their bodies get used to that, and actually having food in their system, before feeding them something as hard to digest as meat.

it makes me happy that you are a vegetarian though!

but the problem with that is that its also unhealthy. just like the point before... you cant get certain things from vegetables that your body needs to digest things correctly and get certain nutrients that you cant get from just veggies. and giving them supplements will only help with MAYBE half of that. if i was form a third world country, i guess my mind set would be beggars cant be choosers. but if i thought someone was going to help my horribly malnutritioned body, i'd hope they would give me both meat and veggies. the most healthy i ever feel when i eat a meal, is if it is something witrh both categories here. example: chicken, side salad, corn, etc.
