Um, that link doesn't even work for me, not to mention I have to have a work around just to comment because the comment button doesn't work for me and I can't actually post with the new update page, so besides that one time, I've switched back to the old style

I'm not actually sure how much longer I'm going to be staying here. Even if I were happy with the designs, none of it is working for me. :(

The comment button doesn't work for me either! I have to add "style=mine" to the end of URLs to comment

That used to work for me, but has recently stopped working! Now I use that greasemonkey script so I can comment at all. :(

It hasn't worked for me for months . . . but I'm using an old, non-bloaty browser, so obviously I'm in a minority they don't care about. Cute little buttons are more important than usability, anyway.

I think we've all already made it abundantly clear that there is nothing about the new friends page that we want. We can refresh the page to check for new entries. We can click an extra button to go twenty five entries back. We are capable. We promise.

And did we not also make it abundantly clear that we DO NOT LIKE the LJ cut scissors? You changing them back to brackets was one of the best things that you ever did! Please, why are you doing this?

Yes! A "security measure," they call it now. The mind boggles

Also, just as an fyi? I'm going to be damn cynical here and say that I find this timing highly suspect. Yeah, there are LJ users all over the world, but I know a lot of them are on the US east coast, and a lot of them understandably have other stuff on their minds right now. Now, let's set aside the little voice asking if this timing is deliberate, and just go for the obvious courtesy: maybe you could have waited until the damn hurricane passed over, at least.

I hadn't though of it this way, but by now, nothing would surprise me anymore.

That's what one of my first thoughts as well "convenient timing".

The friends page has been redesigned as a system page for all users

WHY? Thing is: If I wanted to be on a site where everything looks the same for everybody, I'd be more on Tumblr or FaceBook. I'm here on LJ because I like customising. Customising my journal, customising my friends page. I PAID for that! And now you're taking it away? That is so not cool, LJ. I want this to be an opt out thing, not something you force on us just because you don't give a fuck about your customers, as usual.

THIS!

They took our paid account money, got drunk, paid a donkey to shit on the site and then released it as an improvement.

Thanks LJ team. You're always looking for ways to piss us off and that sort of behaviour is what's driving everyone away to other social media sites and not luring anyone new to Lj.

I also want to say that if these Friends Page changes are made permanent without an opt-out feature, I will be forced to stop volunteering my time and services to the Support board. I will not continue to help a website which pays so little heed to the feedback of its users.

And volunteers really do not deserve to be the frontline for the sheer level of ANGER that users are going to unleash.
Right now I can't see the new style which hopefully means my old layout is holding out, but if I have to read my flist in that awful migraine-inducing Arial-on-white that is the new comments pages, and it's as resource-hungry and crash-prone as people say, then I shall quit for good.

Now I know why my friends (several of whom also have permanent accounts) have been talking about quitting LJ...
