One of the best kept secrets about the LiveJournal community is how incredibly generous you all are. It's not just the fact that so many of you volunteer to help LJ out, or are such active participants in communities online. It's what you do to support communities offline that makes us so proud of what LJ is. (A recent example was the way you all ( Read more... )

"Request your gift certificate now - they're only available until 5 p.m. PT on Monday, Otober 2, 2007."

Ooo. October 2nd is actually Tuesday. Is the deadline Monday or Tuesday?

There's a copypasta in there. You wrote the same thing twice. Word for word.

And, just so I'm clear on this, the Blogger Challenge is /really/ nothing more than a 'reward for helping' incentive so 6A can look good by saying they donated $x to DonorsChoose?

Isn't charity giving without thought of reward?

All sounds like retracing steps to get stock, imo.

Most corporations "donate" to charities as part of public relations campaigns in an effort to appear philanthropic to consumers. I have no problem with 6A/LJ doing the same thing. Hopefully they take a more sincere and engaged approach than most corporations.

Would be nice if they took a more sincere and engaged approach to their consumers, too. ;D

:D And I'd totally do it if I trusted your company even slightly! However, as you've repeatedly lied to your paying customers, I figure I can donate my charity-money to organizations MYSELF, and not go through you. Charity is a great idea guys, but until your actions WITHIN YOUR COMPANY show that you're trustworthy, why would this make us think you're being nice and NOT just trying to make yourselves look good?

Amen. If they were really interested in helping, they'd put a non-referral link up as well.

Who in the two comments above yours was whining?

You sound a little whiny, though.

Whooo! *applauds* Way to go LJ!

You're getting better at the posting news to the news comm thing. This would qualify as biz, so you get a gold star. And plus, it's a good cause, so kudos on that too.

It's still a shame about the non-US users not being able to participate, but maybe you can come up with something for them next time?

All in all? Step in the right direction guys.

Oh! I must've misunderstood then. Thank you!

Hopefully they'll do something to benefit the other users as well.
