So, while I think trying to find out this information is a good plan, I think this methodology is not going to prove all that useful ( ... )

Yeah, I'm not really sure I can usefully answer these questions either. I've been on LiveJournal for about nine and a half years. I used to volunteer in support a long time ago. At that time, I had assuredly read every single FAQ multiple times. Since I stopped volunteering (in 2002 or 2003) I've obviously used them less, but occasionally go and try to look things up ( ... )

Yeah, I'm completely with you on this. I couldn't fill out the poll at all.

ETA: I just had occasion to look something up, and was utterly unable to find it in the FAQ. The only way I managed to find the link to the userpic package resizing tool was by looking for the original announcement in the news community. Not good!

The major problem with LJ help is that nothing gets fixed. My comment notifications have not been working for over 6 months, and I have asked for help with this repeatedly. I get no notification for comments in my posts, responses to other people's posts, gifts friends send to me, etc. I have changed my email address and taken every other step suggested in the FAQs and message boards to address the problem. I have largely stopped using livejournal because of this lack of functionality. And if you respond to this with more suggestions? I WILL NEVER KNOW!!!!!!

Like some previous posters said, your poll is hard to answer. I've read most of the FAQ's, even done support work. No one FAQ stands out as particularly good or bad ( ... )

This is an excellent answer and I agree. Working support was frustrating for that very reason.

Then there are a couple of FAQs I always have a hell of a time finding, because they don't use the right keywords.

I have successfully Googled for LJ FAQs after not finding them within the LJ site :X

This. Most the time it's just easier to google "lj [whatever the heck I'm trying to figure out"].

I think the search terms need to be much much wider. If I **knew** what it was called, I would not be SEACHING for it!

i agree 100%. it is immensely frustrating how hard I had to look to find what I wanted, and how often I had to keep trying alternate words, even varying tenses of words.

Oh, heck yes! raven_moon August 28 2010, 00:07:50 UTC
That's exactly my beef. Sure, I can find what I want eventually, But it shouldn't be some kind of easter egg hunt/mind reading game to find it.... A search engine that had some real power, together with a tagging system would be a huge improvement!

My input is that this is a terrible survey. My experience with the FAQs is that sometimes the info is there, sometimes it's there but hidden under some random other subtopic, and sometimes it's not.
