The inbox in its current form is the last part of LJ that I find actually useful. If you redesign it in your current style... well then, that'll be it for me. Thanks for giving me the heads up needed to grab/save what I need without getting blinded by LIGHT BLUE ON WHITE.
A folder for, and a feature to mark, messages to be saved. I lost a ton of messages because I was unaware that there was a limit to them (and maybe that should be plainly stated *in the inbox area* and not buried in the FAQs). If the issue with allowing that is to save server space, have the saved messages count toward the storage space you have (messages take up basically no space so I can't see that putting a huge dent in anyone's storage allotment).
The little flag next to an item in the Inbox is the "bookmark" icon. You can click that (the flag will turn red, I think) to bookmark that item. It is then protected from being deleted, and you can click the Bookmarks item on the left side to see only those items you have bookmarked.
(This is basically an 'Important' flag/mark like you'd see in Gmail or most email programs. It's just oddly-named currently.)
I only use it as back-up for when email notifications fail again. So my most used feature must be the "delete" function.
My wish: Keep it simple, if you want to bring additional features, make them optional to keep loading times and data transfer down for those of us who only need the most basic service.
