In January 2002 -- five years ago! -- asciident was appointed maintainer of this community. Today, she's let us know that she's resigning from maintaining this community. I'd like to thank her for all her hard work in maintaining this community and keeping everything running smoothly. Thank you, Melissa ( Read more... )

I'd absolutely be interested in contributing to the LiveJournal community in this fashion. I have the time, the desire, and enough dedication to LiveJournal to ensure lj_nifty got another five years service out of someone.

I am no code-monkey -- certainly not as skilled as others, anyway. However, I don't see that as being necessary for maintaining this community. Because I do not need to know how to code like a monkey on crack to see/know/understand what is nifty. And as I mentioned, I can allot the time, easily enough.

I am level-headed and can be diplomatic enough to handle any issues that might arise and ensure the community runs smoothly. The largest community I currently maintain is permmembers (only about 700 beople), but I try to ensure it is modeled and follows in the spirit of official LJ communities, even if itself isn't (because it is the only community serving that niche and I feel that best ensures an enjoyable, informative community).

I would also love the opportunity to tackle the project of updating the memories of lj_nifty, tagging all ( ... )

updating the memories of lj_nifty, tagging all previous entries

That would be great.

Seconded. Woefully out of date, those memories are!

I would absolutely love to maintain this community. LiveJournal is a big part of my life right now. I am very passionate and dedicated when it comes to LiveJournal, and I will do everything in my power to keep this community streamlined, and to hold it up to the same exacting standards that Melissa did, and that the members of this community deserve.

I would be deeply honored to have a chance to serve the members of this commmunity. I have the desire, I have the time, and I have the passion.

I have no qualifications.

I know nothing of LJ.

I never read this community.

I don't know S2 from C4.

I'd like the job anyway.

Oh, I know S2 from C4!

Other than that, ditto.

I was going to make an argument for myself, but I realized I fail at life and I just want to help out.

The first time I played with S2, it blew up in my face. I assume the same would be true of C4.

I'd love to maintain this community. I've been around here since well before the 'hostile' takeover of lj_nifty (when it became an official LJ community), and an LJ user for nearly 7 years, so I've seen pretty much everything there is to see :o)

Maybe there should be two positions. We all have our lives...and sometimes it takes awhile to just sit down, relax, and go on the net.

So I definitely think you, along with two others would be a better idea than just you and one other.

The reason for this is just for the sake of posts being moderated. It's kind of lame when a post gets made and isn't approved for a few days. Having one more person would hopefully deter this from happening.

It could potentially give more time for one of them to do some tag editing along with maintaining memories.

Maybe there should be two positions.

That's actually a good idea - there are a number of different aspects involved to the position, and I see a number of different people representing different ones.

I think communities work a lot like jobs do, in the aspect that they run better when it's adequately staffed.

Is there enough workload to justify multiple maintainers, though?

I mean, it'd be nice to have one person for entry moderation and policing and one person to focus on tags/memories/layout/accessibility. But does this community have that many posts submitted for approval to create an extra maintenance workload? I ask, because there aren't a lot of entries made (at least it seems like there are far less than there used to be).
