In January 2002 -- five years ago! -- asciident was appointed maintainer of this community. Today, she's let us know that she's resigning from maintaining this community. I'd like to thank her for all her hard work in maintaining this community and keeping everything running smoothly. Thank you, Melissa ( Read more... )

I'd love to do that. I used to work in support, never leave LiveJournal, and enjoy what this community has to offer. I already maintain several communities, among them ucberkeley, which is by far the largest. I was sole maintainer of its huge membership until recently. I watch this community on my friends page, so keeping up with it shouldn't be hard at all.

In a very well-moderated community, no less. See? This is what happens when asciident leaves. :p

I'm an LJ dedicated person, I love code (though I know my limits, meaning I can recognize what non-code geeks might also find nifty), and I've a temperament to deal with modly stuff that pushes one's patience. I don't recall lj_nifty ever having any real arguments or troll issues, but I have the level-headedness needed to calmly deal with those sorts of issues should they ever arise.

I spend far more than an hour reading around LJ, so having a community to maintain would actually be a welcome use of time!

I'm interested! I'm not a code freak, but I love gizmos. :-) I've modded a few swap communities here on LJ, the largets of which is secretpal_lj3 That has around 80 members who exchange gifts for 3 months. It's a lot of complication, and since people are spending money, there are always mod issues to deal with. I have a lot of time at work and home with access to the computer to do stuff. My mod style is simple and low key. I enforce the rules politely and try to avoid over modding. If there's no problem, don't fix it!

Plus, you once bought me a beer.
