I hear that you arent supposed to spray them... its like amyth that the bonsai community has come up with... thats really all the advice I can give not that you should credit me because my plants not doing that well...
hmmm... spraying them seems to be the only way that I've kept the leaves from drying out too much... and the folks at the bonsai shop said that I should do so *shrugs*
Actually foliar feeding isn't horrible if you wanna go that way (fertilizers that absorb through the leaves; it's actually pretty good when your plant is weak or you have problems with the roots. . .root rot for example, or when you don't want to risk over watering). Generally however, the way you described your watering is pretty good, every 4-5 days. And spraying the leaves is no problem (though keep them out of direct sun if you do so that the leaves don't scorch).
