Hi, everyone!

I recently purchased a small Korean Hornbeam that I'd like to take a stab at, bonsai-wise. It seemed to have potential to me, but now that I'm faced with it, I haven't a clue where to start. Would anyone care to offer me a clue or two? Here is a pic of it (still in it's nursery pot) sitting in the pot I chose for it:

Hi - I am a longtime lurker that is looking for a trident maple starter sapling. Mine was 26 years old when it passed on (with help from the cats knocking it over and eating it). Does anyone know where I can find two, one for home and another for my classroom?

Ok, heres a picture of my jade plant that I got. Should I prune off the other small pieces of the plant, and leave the largest trunk there so it can get bigger? What else do you see that I could start doing with it?

I recently collected a twenty year old Japanese maple (Acer palmatum) from a relative's house (found a dated, original tag deep in the soil when repotting it!), and as it had been cut low, I've put in the v-shaped cuts for a hokidachi (broom style), used cut paste on the wound, and wrapped rafia around the top of the trunk and planted in a trainer ( Read more... )
