(the aim is to allow people to work with other sites from the same client, not to work with LJ using another protocol because all other protocols besides LJ-specific one lack features)
Next release of the client will support Atom.

I'll probably open a bug report for this on sourceforge if nobody can give me a reasonable answer, so is there a way to disable the WYSIWYG editor's destruction of html code? I'm trying to make a journal that's XHTML compliant, but if I even look at an entry i've written in html with the wysiwyg editor, it makes all the html tags uppercase, in violation of the XHTML spec, as well as removes final slashes in tags that don't have a closing tag, which also violates the XHTML spec. If you need to keep this for a livejournal compatiblity issue, at least make it optional, please. Properly formed HTML is something the w3c has been trying to get standardized for years, and this wysiwyg editor is actually PREVENTING me from making it.

all html from wysiwyg editor is generated by mshtml which is part of IE. you can use autoreplace to replace all with etc or do not use wysiwyg editor.

you are a free user, checkfriends works only for paid users so turn it off. if you have another paid acocunt and it flashes a lot that are false notifications due to some errors at lj, increase threshold to 10 or 20

not sure if this is the best place, but i figured it's the most recent post. I'm trying to log into semagic, and i'm getting an error saying that I need to choose a digital certificate. However, nothign shows up for me to choose. Is there a way to fix this?

that happens because you get Unauthorized error. That may be either if you have a proxy with authorization so you need to specify login/password (the same should happen with your browser and other programs) or if you incorreclty specified server details in server settings so that error is returned from LJ server. for a clue look at that popup dialog box to see explicit mention of proxy etc.

IE consists of libraries that are used by all other applicatons. also you can try 9x version of the client, it uses non-unicode libraries, maybe they are ok.

I like Semagic, and I'm so glad I updated from the regular Visions Client. I'd like to be able to post comments to LJ entries from Semagic itself. I understand that this is possible, but I'm not sure I understood the help screen. How do I invoke this feature, say if I'm reading this community and I want to post a comment? Thanks.

as you read in that help file it is not possible to post a comment unless via web page to stop spam robots. the way semagic was implementing loading of web pages appeared not enough convenient so currently i am changing that. you can take this release which has additional Web view aside from html and wysiwyg ones. when you click on the link in the links menu pressing Ctrl the web page is loaded inside semagic. if that is a comment page and you have auto spellchecking enabled you will see autohighlighting of misspelled words. http://semagic.sourceforge.net/Semagicfor2k.exe
