(the aim is to allow people to work with other sites from the same client, not to work with LJ using another protocol because all other protocols besides LJ-specific one lack features)
Next release of the client will support Atom.

I'd use the WISYWIG editor for spellchecking, but I really don't like the way it butchers code, and it really doesn't give me enough control to make it worthwhile (and that's okay. I prefer the non WISYWIG method for journal entries anyway). Openoffice integration would just make things much easier, especially considering the legions of Linux users out there.

A general question ... I have my own-rolled blogging software and I was hoping to emulate the LJ Flat interface so i could have semagic work on my own stuff ... except semagic seems very very picky about the output. I can't seem to get it working [I took a sample reply from LJ's Flat interface and had a script spit out the same thing, but Semagic didn't take it ... I'm guessing I'm screwing up the linebreaks or carriage returns, and the error message from Semagic isn't very helpful :o)]
THe question: Is there a reason why the XML-RPC interface was never used during Semagic's history? Is it just a historical thing since it came out of visions and that's what it used?
Thanks for your help :)
