I'm in Iowa City for the holidays at the in-laws. Iowa City is a charming enough college town, but it's not exactly an exciting place. I was pondering what kind of entertainment I might be able to find in Iowa in December so that I could do something other than hole up and read a few books.

Pictures of nearby Woodinville today
Woodinville flooded today. This is about 500 feet from where I rode by on my bicycle (and about 3 miles from my house). From reports the flooding started about the same time that I was going by, unaware. The flood was caused by Little Bear Creek, which runs into the Sammamish River. Flooding in another tributary, North Creek, was also significant. ( Read more... ) -

My two weeks off from work ends tomorrow. It was a pleasant full week in northern Michigan surrounded by two extended weekends at home. My vacation has mostly been a vacation from riding the bike, too. I rode just a few more miles in two weeks than I normally would in one.

For your July 4th viewing:
Our nation has been held hostage by George W. Bush and Dick Cheney for 2356 days now. The best thing we could do to honor the spirit of the Declaration of Independence would be to declare our own independence from our own would-be Kings. It is time to start impeachment hearings.
