Happy and sad

Well, we had a bit of a sad weekend, as we lost one of our rats. Grievy (Shadow's brother) came down with Murine Respiratory Mycoplasmosis (a respiratory disease quite common in rats), and it progressed to his lungs despite aggressive antibiotic treatment. Awwwww. I'm so sorry. :( I hate that happened. *hugs Rhi and munchkin* Of course you would be a softie; you have a kind heart.

Some years ago when a faithful parakeet (yes, parakeet) died, I had a little grave marker made (at a real grave marker place) and buried him in a pet cemetery. People snickered, but that bird had been a wonderful companion.

I hope Shadow gets better soon and you'll be able to get a new playmate for him.

All our pets -- from the mice I had when I was very small, to the family cat who died at age seventeen, to Grievy -- are buried in my Mom's backyard. When we laid in Grievy, my son took some rose petals from one of my Mom's bushes and placed them on his grave. I had to go inside, I was crying so hard.

*is such the mushbrain* :)

:( That stinks

Hopefully Shadow can adapt. I know my friend's hamster died, and his other one died soon after of sadness. Of course, they didn't get a new hampster to even take his/her mind off of it.

*hugs*

He seems to be doing OK. We've been taking him out as often as possible, playing and mock-fighting with him. He looks happy ... Hopefully, all will work out for the best. :)
