Got a call yesterday from the science after school program. Sounds like they want me to do it- yay! Now I just need to figure out what to do with my own two urchins. To be honest, there hasn't been much going on, and in a good way. But, let's see what I can come up with.

I didn't know that you get a certain "itch" as a parent. I mean, people talk about baby itch and seven year itch and whatever, but I've never heard people mention the Disney itch. As in, we've never taken the kids to Disney, and we're starting to think about it. And wow! Is it complicated! ( more Disney thoughts )

Ugh. Trevor just cannot catch a break this summer. Now he's down with a virus. It's not a particularly bad one, but he does have a fever, headache, and sore throat. I called the doctor, and he said that the medicine he's taking for his infection is a pretty strong antibiotic, so this is definitely viral (assuming it's not anything more serious ( Read more... )

Had a GREAT day yesterday. We took the kids to Knoebel's, an amusement park around here. It's one of those admission-is-free-rides-cost-tickets thing. We decided to get the wristbands, and I'm afraid we both spent the day keeping tallies in our heads to make sure we got a good deal, but it worked out, and we had a blast. OMG- CUTE!!!!!! (It's JK Rowling's Rita Skeeter story about the current whereabouts of the Potter kids.) ADORABLE. You can tell Rowling LOVES writing Rita Skeeter, and I love that she lives up to the "enchantingly nasty" description she had Dumbledore give. "Enchantingly nasty" is a perfect description. :)

Ugh. Must not engage.... Can I just say how nuts people who disregard science make me???? People are obviously talking about the Hobby Lobby decision, which I am immensely disappointed in the Supreme Court for. So I got off easy with Toby and his foot, but when Trevor got up this morning he was in tears because he felt so miserable and burning up. Called the doctor, and it turns out the poor kid has a sinus infection caused by strep. The good news is a.) he can take an antibiotic for it and b.) ibuprofen perks him up pretty well and brings the fever ( Read more... )
