Aww, I totally agree re the Good Old Boys -- can't stand the concept.
Also, rock on. Sounds like this guy needs to be at HSC. And I totally agree about the Supreme Court :-\

I almost agree with the boy in your class. BUT only on the point about the fact that men are looked down upon in the media. I say boys are looked down upon in society, and to some extent the media. I will give you an example, cause I'm cool like that. :) Take for instance the t-shirts out there for girls to wear. They say: "Labotomy-How to Train Boys" or "Boys Are Stupid...Run Them Over." I think that both sexes are devalued to an extent not just women. I think that feminism is an amazing thing and without it we wouldn't have been able to vote. However, I think that it has taken a strange twist and started to devalue males ( ... )

I am that guy. I don't suppose you thought I'd ever read this. I'm sorry if i offended you. Take my comments with a grain of salt. I do realize that the "good ole boys" are very prominent, at least around here. And i didn't intend to give the impression that I didn't see it as a problem. But the discussion can be a little lopsided in there and i was just trying to point out another view that I don't think anyone else would have attempted to pursue. I knew plenty of people would be more than ready to bash the good ole boys, and they probably deserve it, but you cannot blame them too much. They're a different generation and thats just how they were brought up. Not that that makes it right but it does make it a little more understandable.
Anyway, I just didn't want anyone to think i was just some chauvinist pig. I am a conservative chirstian, but I dont think I am sexist.

May the force be with you.

I guess I gave the wrong impression. Honestly it wasn't so much you that got me so angry, it's what you brought up. I was angered by the thought and recollection of those guys from my highschool. I definitely don't hold it against you, nor do I think you're sexist. You seem like a really nice guy, in fact. I kind of wanted to clear that up too :)

lauren, keep in mind that your women's studies class is probably biased equally in the opposite direction from BA. remember that people are equal, which sometimes isn't really encouraged in the tradition women's studies class.
