My brain is a silly old thing. Or rather, the connect and disconnect between my brain and my hands. I've posted pictures of my paintings here already, so you know the sorts of things I make. I remember you posting some of those Odilon Redon pictures and yes, I loved the spider one! Those are some good tips for exercises and take me back to my days in art class. I like the idea of seeing things in terms of light and dark.
I've done the copying thing before and I in fact have a rather nice copy of Kathe Kollwitz's Death and the Mother that I'm quite proud of.
I like the stuff that I do and I think some of it has a nice weird element to it that keeps it from being too soppy, but it's good to have some other exercises to try, if only for a bit of fun while I'm sitting at Starbucks, where I've captured a few good sketch subjects.
Also, I've been checking online for nearby art meetups and the like for just the reason you suggested. Nothing's struck my fancy yet, but I may just have to go and jump into one.

I'm flying down to SRQ this weekend, but when I come back let's visiting! Do you want to come over to our place for the night? We have a totally sweet fold-out couch and you can have your own room and bathroom.
