He still doesn't understand how this "magic" business works, but if he's to get some of this equipment up and running, he will need to find out pretty soon.If I may, I would like to request information on the phenomenon commonly referred to as "magic". Particularly as related to ( Read more... )

Once you get all your magical electricity, do you have a way to store it, or do we just get our local wizards to take turns shooting lightning from their hands?

Lightning from their hands?

[ The scientist in Spock barely refrains from commenting on how illogical that would be. ]

It is imperative to first understand the nature of magic and its functionality before we can discover the methods on harnessing it. I would not object to any ideas you would wish to share on the matter.

Frankly I don't know anything about magic. But assuming electricity is still the same thing, regardless of its source, obtaining it from people doesn't seem all that practical.

Does it not? We do not possess any of the usual means for obtaining electrical power here. When faced with that fact, it is only logical to seek another source.

...It is also my observation that not everything found here is practical. Perhaps it is time we follow suit.

[Well, this is interesting. A fellow alien? There aren't many of those around here.]

Symbology.

[ Misunderstands completely. ]

It would not be necessary to interconnect any cultures during the process, if that is your worry.

No, that's what this "magic" is called in our world.

I see. Perhaps you can elaborate on its uses?

Go ahead.

What is the probability that any subcutaneous transponders hypothetically present in the crew are functional?

[ Brb he's going to think you're an elf or something now it's the pointy ears! But you should at least know some magic...or be in tune to ~nature~ Oh well maybe your one of those upbeat generations or something. ]

There's quite a bit to be discussed as far as magic goes. Different types, forms, functions, ways of creating it, ways of using it. It's a very broad topic, haha!

[ Surprisingly, he gets that a lot. Please take your time. He will patiently wait. It's for SCIENCE! after all. ]

Precisely. That is why I would be willing to discuss the topic at length with any being familiar with the concept. I presume you are knowledgeable about magic?

[ Oh okay. Helios would feel absolutely terrible for assuming something so glaringly wrong. But he'll do it anyway because he's a derp like that. ]

Ah well you could say that. I'm sure there are others with more knowledge than I, but I'd be willing to do my best to inform you. But...er you're not a [ He just pauses. ] Ahaha, ah no never mind.

[ If Helios bothers to ask at some point, Spock will more than likely explain. He's helpful like that. ]

Please continue. If it is relevant to the discussion of magic, I would ask that you explain what I am not.

We have something similar, though I wouldn't really call it magic.

Please explain. I am interested in all forms of magic, even those similar in nature.

Well...all right; to my knowledge, quite a few of the worlds have atoms and molecules and such, right? That make up their matter? Is your world like that too?

Reply

logicphile February 3 2010, 02:45:23 UTC
Indeed. My world is based on science, and the administration of its concepts. Understanding the basest components of matter is only one part of it.
