Planed boot trip and some disorganized movie impressions?

Action time! Tomorrow my co-workers and I are going to have a canoe tour! Near Kassel there are some nice routes for paddling and we spontaneously decided to give it a try. While I am an okay swimmer (no technique whatsoever but a lot of love for swimming and a useless ability to stay in water up to 5 hours), I have never, ever in my life tried ( Read more... )

I'm not even watching any new anime (except for Sailor Moon Crystal, which I really enjoyed and which gave me a lot of 'feels') but yes, there's really nothing like the old loves. There's about half a dozen shows/movies/books I can never really get over and keep coming back to, and the new stuff is interesting for a while but then it just kind of.... fizzles out?

And it's been a while since I watched anything completely new and went "this is so good, where's the fandom!"

Exactly!
I did enjoy several new creations but somehow it's not the same? It only lasts for a few weeks and than my feelings grow cold and the series seems just nice but ... well *shrug* At the same time, some of the old fandoms never get boring enough to let them go completely (my very first fandom was Yu-Gi-Oh! which was ridiculous, just ridiculous but I still have my card deck. Embarrassing :'D)

P.S.: You probably have already noticed - now it's Weiß Kreuz again ♥ Gosh... It feels a bit like taking a night stroll through a lonely ghost town.

(Are we too old to fall in love again? ._.)

For me, sometimes with the new shows, fandom is what actually makes me give them up again. Like with Sherlock, where fandom and too much discussion of the show (mostly by the creators) resulted in me not being able to stand even rereading fic I liked. Well, that and the horrible 3rd series.
On the other hand I can never get enough of Harry Potter headcanons, I can never get bored by even more Lord of the Rings gifsets, I always end up emotional over Fast & Furious and yeah, there's always Weiß Kreuz.
Maybe it's just growing up and being nostalgic for the shows that we grew up with?

(Naaah, don't worry. I'm pretty sure I was already old when I fell for Hawaii Five-Oh - five years ago - and that one is just filling me with glee whenever I come across a really good fic or vid. Doesn't hurt that the main characters always have hearts in their eyes when looking at each other *lol* Don't stop believing in fandom love ;D)

Gosh, don't mention Sherlock :/ As much as I loved the show, as much was I disappointed after season 3. Which is a pity, really, because that fandom had some of the best fanfictions and definitely the best audiofics! I miss those immensely~ (but somehow I never made any friends in that fandom. It was full of awesome people but maybe the crowd was a touch too big?)

Funny enough, it seems lately a lot of my old acquaintances are reminiscing of the same old things. There are so many Yu-Gi-Oh! fanarts and headcanons as there weren't in years! And Weiß Kreuz and Saiyuki :)

And did you ever hear of "Jeeves & Wooster"? ;) I have this distinct feeling, the show (Stephen Fry & Hugh Laurie) or the books might be to your liking? (Plus-side: booksverses have higher average of good fanfiction :D)

I guess, you are right. I was just... longing for some fresh crush to come and sweep me of my feet. Nah, in the meantime I will just enjoy the comfort of the company of my old fandoms :3

Did pictures happen? :D

I still protest the lack of David McCallum, but I am absolutely determined to see UNCLE, even without Thrill. You're all making it sound pretty good! Hmm, I'll need a writing break this weekend...

Not really ^^" We committed an act of cowardice and hid our smartphones and cameras into a special unsinkable plastic bags provided by the boat agency *cough* We would have needed an extra camera-man with a good insurance and no one was willing to take the risk (we are all just a bunch of cowards...) :D

Do it :3 It's a nice weekend entertainment. And the new Illya is a bit more brutal that David McCallum but still likable~ I'd love to hear your thoughts afterwards!
(also, writing breaks are important!)

Naaah, that's not cowardice, that's just being practical! No sense in having a lot of water-logged equipment even for some good pictures. Technology, so delicate.

"A bit more brutal" is hardly a deterrent! I will gather up a willing friend and go this week for certain.
