Today we woke up around 5:30 to go on safari. It was positively incredible. We were on the road for around 9 hours. We saw baboons, zebras, giraffes (twiga), hippos, impalas, a leopard, elephants (tembo), buffalo, warthog, crocodile, eland, and wildebeest.  Today was a truly amazing day. It started out a bit shaky, however. We went to a Tanzanian fish market. I really struggles seeing all o the dead fish. The streets were wet and slimy  and we were all wearing flip flops. We saw two gigantic sting rays though, which was interesting ( Read more... )

 Today was beautiful. We went to a place called slipway--it was the beach closest to the guest house. It was so peaceful. The breeze was beautiful. We did not stay long because we needed to go to the University of Dar es Salaam to speak with Professor Kennedy ( Read more... )

 We've made it to London. We're now going to sit in Heathrow for a ten hour lay over before a nine hour flight to Africa. The flight was smooth. I slept nearly the entire time. My ears popped when we were landing, which is weird ( Read more... )

 I'm sitting in JFK airport waiting to leave for Tanzania, Africa. Before I started writing, I re-read my old entries. It strikes me how bitter I used to be. As I sit here, waiting to take this potentially life changing trip, I have only petty thoughts. I wonder where my journal from Northern Ireland went. Elaine and I are heading over to the Palladium around midday to start doing everything! I'm sitting in the airport waiting for my flight to Barcelona (Nicole and I are going to Barcelona, Rome and Paris for Spring Break) and I only have 7 minutes left on my time so this is going to be quick.
