Apocalypse fic!

How will David Cameron lead the remnant of the country through an economically depressed Britain with a flooded London while he struggles with his newfound affection for his deputy? What will Nick Clegg negotiate for Britain in Europe and will he return to the place where everything suddenly went unimaginably wrong, not least his conflicted feelings over that one minute and thirty-three seconds alone with Cameron? Where is George Osborne, last seen in conversation with a smiling Mandelson?

Treachery, dishevelments, un-used to hardships; it's a reality wrenched from a nightmare. Just how will everyone cope?

He was still asleep when they found him, as Bercow indicated, under a blanket beneath a tree. He didn't wake when David shook him ( ... )

"Well, perhaps someone took it. Do you know who it might be?" They couldn't suspect the Bercows of course, but the distress on George's face seemed out of proportion ( ... )

Author-anon (whose lj name I know from your accidental de-anon, but I am afraid of bothering you on your account):

Please please please write more of this at some point. I don't even care if it's at the end of September as long as more is forthcoming. This is one of my favourite fics in this fandom, and it makes me ridiculously sad that I haven't read anymore for nearly a month. You are amazing and I need more of this fic like humans need oxygen.

(Thank you for the consideration; I'll de-anon once it's finished. I just don't want my username on a meme)

Yes, there will be more. In fact, there is more, just not typed up...Will resume posting soon-ish I hope.

"The history of England has her as a naval power. Sometimes I wonder if nature itself has a sense of irony. Parts of Netherlands had sank without a trace. The River Elbe became a lake and floating houses built for the eventuality were so few that each man, literally, is their own island. And in Spain, from Seville to Cadiz, was entirely covered by water. The Basques finally declared independence ( ... )

He had warned them both of the extended metaphors now in fashion, but when the expected inevitable prodigal son reference was made of George, the Opposition faltered in mid-argument. It would've been easy to mock had not David found it so alarming. The backbenchers were quiet, being mostly products during Bercow's tenure as Speaker, but then Burham leaned over to Balls, and they, as their wont, whispered with careful regard to the microphones, less so for the rest of the house. A surge of whispered rippled across the Opposition, from the frontbench to the backbench. Worse still, Jack Straw was smiling ( ... )

Nonetheless, for all the awful memories during the parting, he was glad to have it again. It was a reminder of everything he had and perhaps auspicious of everything that will return to normal. The game of politics had never ended. He was back in the play. If Mandelson and his ilk did everything, surely they know that it would mean taking on the House which had ousted them in the first place ( ... )

“So were you,” George said, but he wondered what Balls was hinting at. Perhaps the remarks passed today weren’t as innocuous as he thought ( ... )
