It was only a short walk from the studio to the banks of the Hudson River. The water was a deep blue today, sunshine glimmering on the surface. The path alongside the river was busy, lots of people walking dogs, businesspeople rushing between meetings, and a few groups of tourists admiring the view.
Nick kept his head down, hoping to be left alone, and strolled aimlessly down the riverbank. He averted his gaze from the couples on the benches lining the path, feeling an ache deep in his gut. Jealousy was irrational, he chided himself; even if anything had happened between himself and David, it wasn’t as though they’d ever have been able to be open about it.
