I've always liked the idea of this prompt over on thread 3!

But decided I couldn't fill it exactly and do rear window any kind of justice, so I've taken the idea about the stalking and the photos and gone off somewhere else with it.. I hope the OP of that prompt is OK with that.

My reworded prompt would be something along the lines of:

David and Nick are in love, and keeping it on the down low, but someone is suspicious and does their worstbest to come between them after finding concrete evidence through not so honest ways.

You're tugging at my heartstrings, Authoranon. The angst is palpable here and I feel for them both.

I want to shake some sense into Danny and possibly, maybe, slap George for what he's trying to do then give him a lecture.

Danny stood in the shadows, away from the prying eyes of the security guards and the CCTV; he remained motionless, standing firm since the moment he’d seen Nick slip through the gates. He clutched at the Blackberry that was in his pocket, and turned the smooth device over and over in his palm as he tried to process his thoughts and emotions. The weight of disappointment seemed too heavy for his shoulders to sustain; he was disappointed with himself that he’d allowed George’s manipulative tongue to plant the seeds of doubt and suspicion that had caused him, to what could only be considered as stalking Nick. Then there was the disappointed tainted with the sadness that George’s wild accusations appeared on the surface to be a solid possibility ( ... )

The night had been long and drawn out for David and the soreness that plagued his eyes served as a constant reminder of the small amount of sleep he’d managed to gain. His mood was dour and his temper short, not ideal for a Wednesday in Parliament where he would face his weekly questions; but ever the professional he was confident that his frame of mind would not affect his performance and allow any weaknesses to show. He accepted that this would be a hard endeavour, as he would no doubt be sat in very close proximity to Nick on the coalition government’s tightly packed front bench. The only solace he could take from the situation was that he’d enjoy the warmth and comfort of Nick against him as they sat so closely. He had missed his chance of intimacy the previous night and it had played on his mind since, his heart ached and he was occupied by guilt; he sighed as he rested his head in his hands, he knew he was in love, but in an impossible situation that he feared only time or a dramatic change in circumstances would see him ( ... )

George nudged Danny lightly in his ribs. “David’s left, says he has things to attend to. Something is wrong; dare I say trouble in paradise?” Danny looked thoughtful, pretending to read his notes as George continued. “I think we need to get things moving Danny before we miss our golden opportunity. Think it is possible to get things sorted for tonight? I can free you up for the rest of the day.” Danny nodded and placed his pen down and turned to look at George with sincere eyes ( ... )

The worries and concerns raced through Danny’s mind quicker than the early evening traffic that made its way down Whitehall, the pavement he treaded was just as congested as the roads with various office staff as they commenced their commute homeward. Although he’d made his decision he was still torn with the legality of their actions and the repercussions if the whole plan backfired on them. He felt just as immoral as he deemed the possibility that Nick was abusing his current situation and had entered into a sordid relationship with David. Danny ran through what George needed to do to access the feed, and as he clicked the appropriate short cuts the image streaming from four different sources appeared on the monitor, a devilish smirk spread over George’s face as he was pleased by the sight in front of him and clapped Danny firmly on the back. Their little celebration of success was interrupted as their attention was pulled back to the vision on the screen. Danny quickly clicked the mouse to maximise the feed of the one camera that captivated them. They both stared with intense interest as they watched the figure of David Cameron, pacing up and down the corridor outside of his office, gesticulating with great animation with one hand as he talked into his mobile phone ( ... )

Time ticked away far too slowly as David paced the length of his office, pausing occasionally to monitor the journey the ornate clock hands were making around the clock face; he sighed as they seemed to be making little headway. He had tasks he could turn his attention to, but he couldn’t settle his nerves enough to concentrate. Although he and Nick had reached a truce over the previous night’s misunderstanding David was very aware that he needed to be careful not to upset Nick in any way with the wounds still very fresh and Nick’s emotions were being pushed to their very limit of toleration. Finally he sat down and glanced out the window into the darkness; he stifled a yawn and sighed wearily, as he reluctantly admitted the decaying state of his own emotions, if only to himself ( ... )
