It's amazing how I can spend the whole trip home from work waxing poetic telling a story I feel can really move people, and then when I get home where I can write it down, my brain shuts off and I just stare dully into space.

At least I finally cleaned up my desk. I didn't leave work until 8:25, but my desk is nominally bearable.

Terry dreamed about saving children the other night. That same night, I dreamed I tried to save a child, as well. I dreamed my house was overrun because I had thrown a party but the next morning everyone was still there, lining up for the bathroom and tracking dirt all over. The air smelled of wet stone and earth this afternoon as I walked Beau in the woods. A fine haze prevented any darkness from touching even the thickest stands of trees. Just a few minutes ago I saw a black hummingbird floating among the mimosa flowers. I think it's a very good sign.
