Harry hasn't actually given up on living, or he would have just tried more seriously to kill himself. He's given up on making his friends understand, though.
Draco cannot let Harry Potter get away with things this strange on his watch, obviously.
oh I am mystified as to how Draco will solve this one ... his tenacity had better be strengthened by failure to overcome Cassandra's curse. It amazes me that such a simple idea leaves Harry in the most awful of positions ...
And I too am wondering about the identity of the caster ... like you other commenter said, it could be Snape, because of the whole Harry not trusting him issue - but then he spent years at school believing the worst about Harry based on the fact that he looked like his childhood bully/nemesis/stealer of girlfriend - so I am leaning away from Snape ...
Not sure who I am leaning towards at this time, however. Considering OotP, it could be any of a number of folk! Not Our Lady of Evil Fluffy Pinkness? Or a deposed Fudge? Rita Skeeter getting her own back? *gasp*
It is going to take a lot of hard work. But I have the feeling Draco will be up to the task, since he developed the art in the first place and wouldn't want to say he failed with his most important patient.
I'm sorry I can't comment on this, except to say that Harry didn't curse himself. Anything other than that would reveal the plot for the sequels too early.
I'm glad that Draco looked into the Daily Prophet thing, instead of just assuming that he was right about the amount of articles written about Harry. I felt really bad for Harry this chapter. How incredibly frustrating to know that he's telling the truth, but no one believes he is. And to live with it for a year! *pets Harry* Poor boy...
This was a fantastic chapter. I loved it. I'm glad Draco's starting to wonder about the inconsistencys. I cannot help but wonder where they will lead him, and indeed if Harry will ever be cured.

Harry came incredibly close to just giving up before he managed to master himself.

Sorry, but I have to keep that part hidden for right now.
