Update!! I missed this story :)

Another Slytherin conversation, in which there are hints of the problems to come in the second part. If Cordelia doesn't want the potion making trouble for Diggory, then she'll take part in the potion's restrictions. Tha'll be interesting, I have a feeling Draco will go all Gollum on the potion, if he hasn't already ::lol::
I wonder if Cordelia and Harry will meet, I can't imagine how a conversation between them would be unless Draco starts training him in Slytherin Talk.

That part with Hermione and Harry was heartbreaking, I imagine how hard it must be for Harry to see her like this, when he know just how strong she really is. And he was so cute spending all day with her, not doing or saying anything, just being there for her. Draco's reasoning for his touch on Harry's neck made me want to hug him, but I guess by the end of this part he'll have a real friend in Harry. And I'm a sucker for touches in the nape of the neck :P

Even so, that was no excuse for what he later learned he had forgotten to ( ... )

Draco is formulating a few ideas for protecting the potion. Of course, most of his attention is still taken up with perfecting it, since otherwise they have nothing to protect.

Harry would be open and honest and betray everything important to Cordelia in about half a minute.

Yeah, one of the things that will never change is Harry's devotion to his friends. I think that's something Draco can honestly envy whether or not he physically wants Harry; having someone who will hold and soothe him when things get rough.

Oh, everything makes sense in the end. But I appreciate why you're having difficulties determining what the potion does.

And thank you for commenting!

Thank you!

Heh, I wanted Cordelia to be freaky, but I'm not sure what I did to succeed so well.

It takes away his capacity to feel strong emotions?

If that's the case, how awful! But I could see the reasoning behind it.

If not... *bounces* Can't wait to find out what it does to him.

Thanks for commenting! And the answer isn't that far away; it'll be in Chapter 12.

Harry was cursing in Parseltongue when he was agitated, without his potion. I wonder if it's the part of himself that is from Voldemort. The potential for evil in us all could be personified for Harry, hater of All Evil. And maybe that is why Hermione told him he was fine without it, that he is not evil! But he fears becoming evil and doesn't want to leave it to chance. Now that I think of it, most of the awful things that happened to people in his life were when they were sucker-punched--never saw it coming. Betrayal of parents by best friend Peter, Quirrel being a bad guy, Snape being a good guy, Dumbledore trying to save Draco and basically sacrificing himself, Cedric taking the cup in a moment of triumph, Sirius dying in surprise at the height of his feeling alive. Very little of the evil has been mutually agreed upon, honorable circumstances. Usually it sneaks up on them! Harry hates surprises. And he doesn't want to risk being surprised by his own potential for evil. Maybe....

Obviously this story gets me thinking!

I'm glad it does! I can say that some of your speculation is correct, but not all.

Oh hoo, how exciting! I like Harry without his potion. Um, I missed it, but what was the reason why he didn't take the potion until after he messed up in front of Draco?

It was the "something" he forgot on that long day when he stayed tight with Hermione during her collapse.

Yes, but he could have excused himself and went to take the potion before beginning their brewing process, maybe. It's just, if it was so important, how come he tried to hold off without it for a while? Or was he just being scatterbrained because he was in the middle of withdrawal?

In part 6:

"Hermione’s ordeal exhausted him and took up his attention nearly as much as it exhausted her and took up hers. Even so, that was no excuse for what he later learned he had forgotten to do."

He just forgot. It's not withdrawal, it doesn't seem to be addictive.
