This is the last chapter of A Potion Named Desire. However, it will have a sequel, to be entitled An Alchemical Discontent, which will probably start in about a week.
I have to say I didn't expect the reason why Harry was taking the potion. I thought it was probably because he thought himself evil, I just never guessed the why he would think himself so. I have to say that I agree with Draco's reasoning, that nothing happened (other than scaring Ginny) because Harry managed to stop himself and therefore he doesn't need the potion.
Brilliant chapter. I loved the way you wrote Draco. He was just so cool, calm, and collected in the face of Harry's unease. I also liked the fact that Draco seemed to realise pretty quickly (once he knew about the side-effects) to get off the potion they had created - I think for much the same reasons he doesn't really want Harry on his potion.
If his own reaction and Ginny's reaction had been less extreme, he might not think himself evil. Nor would he if he heard about it secondhand. But that's part of the reason he blasts Hermione for not being there; he can't really explain the intensity of the emotions, but he knew he felt them, and he never wants to feel anything like that again.
To Harry, that he stopped himself doesn't matter, because he so nearly didn't.
Thank you! Draco definitely will stop taking the Desire potion.
*starts flailing wildly* I must say I've ADORED this fic so far and I'm quite looking forward to the next two parts. The intricacies of this plot are fantastic.
ARGH! As much as I love infinitely!patient!Draco I really want him to give Harry a smack. Not that it would help, but we'd both feel better for a minute.
Excellent! I'm glad we know the reason now, and I can certainly see why it scared Harry...but, I agree with Draco. He didn't do it. He stopped himself. And maybe strength doesn't lie in not intending bad things to happen, but rather in making the effort to stop the intention from going further. I'm looking forward to the sequel, and hoping Draco will help Harry to see that!
Harry knows how close he came to the edge. If Ginny hadn't started crying, he would have done it. So he gives credit for his stopping to outside forces, not internal ones, and he never wants to be in that situation again.
Which doesn't mean I don't agree with you. I do. Just trying to explain why Harry won't think the same way.
