Today I have seen not one but TWO brides who wore wedding dresses with sheer corsets, one on TV and then just now a picture on some website. Sort of like this. These were not trashy/attention-seeking celebs or anything, just two normal ("normal") not-famous brides. I do not care to follow wedding trends, so PLEASE tell me this is not a thing now. People try those on all the time on Say Yes to the Dress! I was just complaining to Jeff's mom last week how much I hate them. I think that Pnina designer does it a lot. I hate to break it to you but I think it's been a thing for a while (though I would not have known if I didn't watch that show). :(

And if you look in that photo album, there are quite a few see through corsets. :/

Ugh, I guess I should feel lucky, then, that I've been unaware for so long. Probably because my friends/family who would invite me to their weddings are not the types to wear one of these.

Though, I have to say, I do enjoy the (unintentional) comedy of juxtaposing the "virginal" white with the trashy sheer corset.

If you've seen Say Yes to the Dress the past few years, all the brides go apeshit over the same thing from Pnina. SHEER TRASHINESS.

Please see my comment to Carol above.

I'm glad I've missed out this long.

I would put the sheer shirt into the "not my style, but I'm not offended" category. I guess technically, the wedding dress falls into the same category, but I mean... You would think

Like, this is the day when theoretically a bride wants to look the best of any day in her life. Because it's probably the most attention ever focused on her at a single event and also will last forever in pictures.

BIG BIG difference from anything you'd wear on a daily basis. Who cares if anyone finds that questionable! But I would definitely be interested to hear a) what the guests think of a dress like this and b) what any of the brides may think 10 years later. Are they embarrassed to display the photos? (Or maybe the marriages haven't 10 years anyway, so the photos have been destroyed for other reasons.)

See how fascinated I am? I could type for hours. hahah.

(Okay, so I discovered you via ontd_pucking and went 'another pgh hockey fan!' and friended you. Feel free to ignore me. Anyway.)

On Say Yes to the Dress I have actually seen those dresses worn in a nice tasteful way - the trick is that those brides have the sheer parts of the corset lined (often with something a very pale color, so it adds really subtle color to the dress and doesn't hide all of the detailing by putting white on top of white) so it's not like 'oh look, skin!'

I have never seen such a thing until now! I'm a fan of corseted dresses, weddings such be a little more... classy, in my mind. See through is just sexy overkill and unacceptable.

I haven't read the other comments yet but I LOVE how trashy those chicks are on Say Yes to the Dress. I dunno about you, but I don't want my wedding guests to see my belly button THROUGH my dress.

I've NEVER seen one of those in CA...I really think it's an east coast thing.
