Winter sky.

I am going to miss the winter sky. I do every year. I will miss Orion and Ursa Major and Cassiopeia. I always look at the sky more in the winter. I don't know why I'm willing to stand out in the cold air to stare at the stars, but I do it anyway. Likewise, the moon enchants me more during the winter. you would love living in the desert then.
when i lived in southern new mexico, we lived far enough out from the city (and thanks to NMSU's astronomy department making streetlights not in vogue) i could always go outside and stare up at the stars, wondering at their beauty and their mystery.

I used to live in SE Colorado, which is damn near a desert. And we lived out in the country too. I miss those stars. There were so many! And it made me feel very insignificant. All of those little campfires flickering out there like home.

I think that as a civilization we've lost a lot by going to overly lit cities. We no longer have the wonder of the skies.

I agree, something about looking up at the night sky is very peaceful. Especially in the winter when you can see the your breathe crystalize into a thin mist. The nights seem so clear and the stars seem so bright. Something about staring at the stars on a cold night makes you feel totally alone and at peace with the world. I love it and definitely know how you feel. I dont like freezing my ass off though

lol...you inspired. Like everyone is saying, you're not the only one that looks up. Even if you are alone, looking up at the stars puts you in good company.

All of us staring upwards. It's a wonder we don't run into more things. Lol.

Good to know I'm not alone. I feel that I am most of the time.
