I've decided that being depressed over my parents' divorce and my lack of a family is okay. As long as I don't let my sadness define me or overwhelm me, it's fine.
I've also decided that college isn't that important. I can get into college, I'm worthy of the colleges I want to go to. It's just a matter of whether or not I want to go to college ( Read more... )

My parents are divorced too, and have been for years... I have yet to get over it. I'm not depressed about it anymore, though. How long ago did they split?

They're still in the ugly middle, actually. They probably won't be done until this summer, and in this wonderful, "brief" process, I've lost my dad, my brother and, of course, my house.
Fun, no?

Mine was miserable-- my dad left my mom for another woman, which was messy indeed. Their divorce was quick and extremely painful, and he married the other woman four weeks after it was final. I didn't speak to my dad for around two years, because I was 13 when it happened and unlike friends who had their families split when they were 4 years old, I was painfully aware of all of the stupid details. Anyway, it's been about 6 years and I just went to my Dad's house for Christmas this year, and I've learned to really like my step-mom. And they have a daughter and another on the way and I'm a happy older sister. I still don't like that he isn't married to my mom, but I've come to the conclusion that whatever is best for them is what they're going to do.

But yeah... divorce sucks balls.

let's see...my parents lost their first child, because of that my mom is way overprotective and too strict and my dad is cold and distant. Both are relatively insane. My dad hasn't talked to me in very, very long time. Unless, of course, he wants something. My mom talks to me too much, as in every single detail inside the courtroom (and outside it), she wants me to help her analyze. Like it's some huge crush scandal and she's a 14 year old and I'm her best friend. It's ridiculous and stupid.

I guess I just have to learn that my parents are going to do what they want to do, and I just have to do what I need to do.
However, I'm totally agreeing on the "divorce sucks balls" thing.

You call me when you need to feel loved and stuff, darling. This proves that you HAVE to see Fruits Basket. It'll hit home with you pretty dang well. Let's watch it on Saturday! After the AP test, you'll feel so happy! Please?

Tennis districts. But I swear, this summer, you and I are chilling and watching all those movies I need to see. Yes. I'm just going to live at your house, okay?

I'm sorry Chez, divorce must be really stressful. I definitely can relate with you about the kinda crappy blood-related family thing. But it sounds like you're going to be ok because of those decisions youve already made, some people never figure things like that out. If you ever want to talk about ANYthing, then I would love to hear and talk to you:)

I would love to sit and talk to you sometime. It seems like we really never get to talk in "real life". It's really sad. I feel like I have no idea what's going on in your life, and that depresses me because I think you're awesome.
So solution? We're chilling some time relatively soon.
