Dangling plot lines, no. Lots of unanswered questions tangent to the plots? God, yes. From what the hell is Jones to what the hell happened during Antimony's break the readership (at least as I see it from the forums) thinks Tom's a magnificent bastard in that respect.
I particularly love how each year, Tom reset the setting of Gunnerkrigg Court in such a way that makes that place more fantastic (in a fantasy sort of way) than say the Harry Potter series. The dorm moving intros when from a normal dorm, to a tree-house sort of dorm to now something out of the Nautilus. I would much rather go to school at Gunnerkrigg than at Hogwarts.
Actually, there are dangling plot lines. One was resolved: the conflict between Antimony and Renard with both growing as a result (notice Renard is once again Renard, instead of Reynardine, the name Antimony's mother gave him in her part of the power play against Renard). Another is the homework situation... which I suspect will come up again. There is even the young man whom Antimony saved from the mind-spiders, and who I suspect may be part of the ongoing cycle that Antimony and her line represents (though to be honest, I'd prefer seeing Antimony take the third option).
The change in venues is interesting, I'll admit. We don't really see all that much of their dorm-lives however, so outside of the initial coolness factor, I'm not sure if it'll matter much.
