If you'd like the knowledgeable catholic perspective, I'm pretty well versed, as well as in tune with the historical past of the church and how it's evolved through the centuries to adapt to the modern era and how that effects the catholic faith.

i'm so glad you replied, what you are saying is exactly what i'm interested in. my basic reasoning for doing this is because, i feel so open-minded about a lot of things when it comes to religion, and i'm really interested in why people feel compelled to believe one thing over another, where that comes from, what is their background for that kind of thing. My mother was, like your dad, really just giving me an outline of "be a good person." be kind to others and hatred is harmful. however my mom did it through more buddha and taoist principles of letting things go rather than holding in the hatred and tension. I guess you could say i want to round out my perspective of religion with the help of other people's experience.

I love to talk religion, simply because most people here know so little about Judaism. Christianity is based on Judaism so there are a lot of similarities. Basically the only difference is the emphasis of Jesus. Growing up in this town, I had to learn about all the other denominations of Christianiy in order to support or justify my own religion. I will be in the building all of Summer I or we can chat on the phone. 936-552-6220.

I think its funny how people get caught up in the who's and details of it all. I think we all have many of the same basic beliefs and its hard to get people to see how similar those beliefs are sometimes. Some people find strength, inspiration and beauty in the verses of the Bible. According to my sister, she likes it because its a very condensed source of inspirational words. Me, I do the same thing except with song lyrics or movie dialogue or even in nature....sometimes the sun hits the trees so beautifully that I just feel at peace and connected to everything in a spiritual way.

To me religion is something everyone has- it IS their beliefs, you don't have to worship something, you just have to feel it. It doesn't have to even involve GOD or BUDDAH or the lack of such. Its just how you relate to the world, the universe and other people. Anyways, that my humble opinion.
