Whoever you're referring to, I doubt they were behind it. This place seems to pull people, creatures, and objects in of its own accord. Just think of it as a magnet, I suppose. Anything with the right magnetic field will be pulled in. More likely, the objects are taken at random, but it's almost impossible to know either way.

Supposedly, it was made possible through a scientific mistake, so it's difficult to recognize the actual cause.
