Eh...lesser of two evils? As someone who voted for McCain in the 2000 primaries (changing my party to do so)...that man scares the hell out of me now. And Palin is terrifying, what with her trying to ban books, and abuse of power, and anti-choice ways. Obama may be inexperienced, but old school politics as usual hasn't done much for this country over the last 8 years, except get us into one war that was unnecessary, take our attention away from another war that was extremely necessary, trash civil rights and the constitution they come from, and garner us a few more enemies around the world. Inexperience, at this point, is far more desirable than maintaining the status quo. At least, that's my take on it.
Roe v Wade will NEVER be overturned. No matter how many conservative judges are appointed. Point of fact Roe only confirms a woman's right to privacy not abortion. Even if by some miracle it is overturned it will mearly fall to the states to make the decision.
Things like this are fluff issues. Things politcians use to distract us.
Who is anti-enviornment? We all want a planet to live on. How is this even an issue? If I remember correctly BOTH canidates are for the enviornment and both believe the Myth and bad science of Global warming.
McCain has been shaking up the government since he got there. Obama cannot even remember what committees he has been on and has voted partisan everytime.
I am not saying McCain is the best canidate but from what I have read he is better then Obama for me and my way of thinking.
He wasn't my first choice, nor even my second. But my first turned out to have no integrity (Edwards), and my second didn't get any traction (Richardson). Like elwyntan, for me it's not a case of fascination, but rather picking the side in favor of the things I support.
Dude, you may want to go friends lock that most recent post of yours before you go saying things like that. It would come across as a little less... contradictory.
One reason I would vote for McCain is I know where he stands. Obama seems to make it up as he goes along. Contridicting and outright lieing to gain support from whomever he is speaking to at the moment. McCain has a long record that crosses party lines and does what Obama claims he will do. Which by the way he has not done during his senate terms. I will find the sources to back all this up as I have time. More later. And for the record I was not making this post to say McCain is better then Obama just trying to understand what Obama has done to garner such popularity.
McCain is a strong supporter of the Military. He will keep our boys funded and properly equipted. Plus he has a realistic plan for dealing with the Iraq war.
McCain seems to understand basic economics and how to create jobs through investments in business.
McCain supports moving us away from foreign oil through a multi step process of more drilling, Building new Nuclear plants, and improving new energy sources.
McCain supports securing our borders and cleaning up the illegal immigrant problem we have in this country.
Those are my top 4
He has a proven track record. He has shown he will cross party lines to get the job done. He is not afraid to stand up for what he believes is right. He seeks to restore the faith of the people in their leadership and stop government waste and abuses.
What has Obama done besides talk and vote with his party?
I don't think John said everyone who plans to vote for obama is part of this cult following. But saying "Some people look at his less critically than they should, sure." is a teensy bit misleading. Take the vast majority of the news media for example. Most of them have been on their knees for Obama for months now. (I could scrounge up sources to back this up, but honestly, if you need me to, your head is shoved so far into the sand as to render such an effort on my part an exercise in futility.) Beyond the news media, some people's fascination with the man has become something that can only be described as cult like, and/or sexual. Again, if you have failed to come across this in your travelings on the web and in real life, I'm just not sure what to say to you

I believe the Cult following has been answered below as has the Racism. Yes I was refering to his church. 20yrs and he never heard the enflamitory teachings? OR by disagreeing with them not removing himself and his children from said influence? A last minute refutal when your hand is in the cookie jar is not good enough for me
