Happy, proud and weepy

I'm so thrilled with the election results. I've been a wreck for weeks now, never confident that the polls were accurate, that they couldn't figure out some way to steal or sabotage the election. And now, it's over. I can relax ... or, as our president-elect asked, get ready for the real work ahead. ( Read more... )

I can tell you, as someone who went (against my better judgment!) to a hot, crowded hotel ballroom in Boston and stood for three hours until I nearly collapsed that as exciting as it was to be with other Democrats at this moment in history and I loved hearing the speeches given by John Kerry and the MA delegation, I longed to be home in front of the TV watching everyone else have that experience. So you did the right thing, I think! And it was worth it to hear that amazing, amazing speech clearly! And that beautiful family! I can't wait to see them in OUR White House! Hurray!!!

*sending big congratulatory hugs your way* It was a privilege to be watching last night, even from home. Finally!

We watched our new president tonight. Our president. I'm still in shock.

I was in shock and too excited to sleep last night. So today I'm stunned and feeling hungover from emotion (since I couldn't drink, dammit).

There's so much work ahead. But now I believe we can move in the right direction at last.

A president I can proudly call my own. A country I can call my own again. This is so very big.

*big hugs*

I watched the live feed from Grant Park -it was wonderful and made me cry. I'm off to work now-and I'm so tired because I sat through all of the election glued to the BBC. It was worth it though even if I fall asleep in front of the class! :)

I saw your post and was flabergasted that you stayed up so late! It was worth it, though -- what a great night, and what a great, sobering speech he gave. It wasn't some mindless victory cheer. You could see the losses (not just his, but those of everyone who worked for the campaign) and the magnitude of the job and the determination.

(((Lorie))) Such a beautiful, fantastic crowd! Such a perfect night! We will remember this for the rest of our lives, no matter where we were at that historic moment.

Today is a good day to be alive.

It's a very good day indeed! I suppose in one sense we're always watching history -- but how special to be so aware of it, to realize that what you were seeing or doing is part of a moment that will be in history books.
