Three things I learned during my trip to Florida:

• A 3-inch binder filled with papers is painfully heavy in a carry-on.
  
• My supervisor's stripper name (name of your first pet + street you grew up on) is Lady Wackerly.

Since I just blew El Hombre's mind with this knowledge, I thought I should blow some other minds as well (heh...blow).

I have been roleplaying. I joined a Livejournal roleplaying game on a whim, and no one is as surprised as I am that I'm enjoying it.

Still, I think me roleplaying might be one of the signs of the apocalypse.

Given how much friends like the show, I just gave Dr. Horrible another chance and watched the entire thing with full attention (compared to half-watching while El Hombre fast-forwarded through the singing parts he couldn't stomach). There were certainly some good lines that made me laugh. I kind of liked the poignant ending. I'm just not in love ( Read more... )

April is National Poetry Month (a fact I only remember because for some reason I'm still on the mailing list to receive a poster each year despite not teaching since 2003). Now I realize that Evangelion is basically a huge cash cow for its creators, and they will continue to create new DVD box sets and "Rei as a catgirl" figures for years to come. But official boxers? Really?

Although they are somewhat redeemed for labeling one pair the "I mustn't run away!" design.
