Chris and I are leaving Milan in a few to go to Genova..... sorry my entry is so short but check out was an hour ago and michele was being nice enough to let me take the computer for another couple of min. I will try to update soon.

Closed Saturday and Monday evening.
Da Maria is a great place for a cheap eat in a great cucina casalinga (home-cooking) environment. The decor is rudimentary - green walls - and we shared our table with faster eaters than ourselves. But the food was filling, the service very friendly, and the whole experience memorable and enjoyable.

We went to Da Maria for a late lunch on a Monday. The restaurant is down a narrow street off Via XXV Aprile but easy to find if you follow the green neon sign on Aprile. We found a couple of spaces at a shared table and studied the handwritten and photocopied menu.
We highly recommend Da Maria, both for fantastic value and for a great local experience. You have to be prepared to risk not knowing exactly what you will be eating (the menus are handwritten and not in English), but the risk definitely can be worth it.
