OKAY! So, about 2 years ago I went into the Borders at the Northridge Mall with nothing on my mind except Kurt Vonnegut. Something similar happened with me a few months ago. Mine didn't work out, but that's not to say that yours won't. It makes me happy when things like this occur. Like maybe our first impressions of people actually say something about our higher reasoning. Like, maybe movies and TV and books and Media with a capital M, aren't complete shit full of the things we like to tell ourselves. Maybe as humans we are capable of creating linear works that match and mimic our linear existence. That those happy endings are real and possible and we won't end up like our parents and we won't sell out and we won't live a tired life full of empty cliches that makes us sad and pathetic and longing for meaning. That every life is unique and absurd and ends at page 233, before the dialysis and withering and all of that scary stuff that happens in hospice. Yes. Cherish it. Do it.
