Having since thrown quite the tantrum in his room and thus rendering it a certifiable disaster zone, Shinji finds himself placed under medical care against his will, perhaps for the sake of his own sanity more than anything else. He is quiet and withdrawn, staring at the ceiling with a vacant expression. He is only vaguely aware of Toji's presence, but otherwise says nothing - he is lost in his own world, scared and alone, but his terrifyingly blank face would not reveal such.

Kira waits until Toji is sedated for a more intensive regeneration period before entering the room. He quietly closes the curtains between their beds before sitting next to Shinji. He wants to talk to him in private.
Kira has asked an honest question, so Shinji gives him an honest answer. "Terrible. I feel... lost. Hopeless. Like nothing's worth fighting for anymore."
He hangs his head and tries his damnedest to hold back the tears that threaten to fall. Even now, he is putting up a front for Kira, but it is wavering at best. "I wanted to be strong, just like you, Kira. But I couldn't be. In the end, I couldn't raise a fist against that rampaging Eva. I didn't... do what was necessary. I'm a weakling, to my last breath."
Kira reaches down and hugs Shinji. "You know I stopped worrying about why I'm fighting a long time ago. Concentrating on the fighting itself isn't the point. It will just lead to more fighting. I try to think about my goals, what I want, what I think is best. And if I have to fight to accomplish them I will, but that should be a last resort. Unfortunately we don't have much choice at the moment. So I fight. But I don't have a reason to fight anymore, I fight as a means to an end."
He sighs, "Whatever people tell you, being a humane compassionate person is not being weak. And being able to effectively fight is not being strong. One can be either weak or strong and be both."
Toji is laying there listless. The missing limbs are frankly nothing compared to his memories of piloting the Eva. The fear, the rage, the hunger, the pain, the sorrow, the... dare he think it, joy. Its too much. Its nothing compared to when he was in it before. So he lays there staring at the wall, unable to do much other than think about what happened to him.
Asuka's not going inside. Just kind of...keeping an eye on the idiots' room. She's gotten herself patched up for the few cuts and bruises she got while ejecting, but she's certainly better off than either of them.
Right now, she's just kind of...staring at the door.
Asuka's almost gotten used to that. It's not like she tries very hard to notice Rei in the first place. Right now, she's too annoyed to even jump at the surprise Wondergirl.
"The regular idiot just exhausted himself and the exhibitionist idiot...they're not telling me anything, so probably not too well."
Her voice is more than a bit too tense to rightfully be called "indifferent".
Rei wonders what she's talking about with the "exhibitionist" remark, but is too drained to try and figure out Asuka's jabs today. She therefore contents herself with saying, "I see."
Hearing about what happened during the last mission Quatre has gone to visit Shinji and his temporary roommate, violin case in hand in case they would like some music as a distraction. But when he got there, he was shocked to see Shinji in that state and almost dropped the violin. "Shinji...!"
Shinji doesn't even notice Quatre stepping in. Upon hearing Quatre call out to him, his head lolls to the side as he turns an empty gaze to the young man. Every word is chilling to the bone.
"Quatre," he mouths the name, but bears no attachment to it. "Why are you here?"
He raises his arm to show Quatre, and rotates it effortlessly. "I wasn't hurt, see? It's fine, just fine... so there's no need for you, or anyone else."
Quatre winces with a slight pain and grabs at his heart for a moment, the complete lack of feeling from Shinji affecting him. He manages to push the pain down and block it before moving towards the bed. "I'm here because I'm your friend and want to be here. Does there need to be any other reason?"
He reaches for Shinji's arm and gently lowers it. "You may not be physically injured, but you are hurting inside. And I want to help."
Shinji's reaction is immediate and jarring. He promptly whips his arm away from Quatre, just a few short inches from striking him, and snaps, "Don't touch me! Don't come near me! Don't you understand?! I don't want you here at all!"
He brings a shaky hand to his forehead and mutters behind it, "I'll hurt you, too. You'll end up like he did, and it's all my fault. All mine."
Eventually the door opens, and one of Toji's newfound friends comes in, looking as downcast as possible as he pulls up a seat between Shinji and Toji.
"I..." Shinn starts to say, "I really don't know where to begin. What happened out there with you two... I don't think of anything I've seen that compares. Dammit... how did things end up like this? The worst hot water I thought I'd get intowith you guys was that whole incident with Asuka, and then this happens. It's pretty messed up, you know that?" Shinn lets out a self-hating, humorless laugh. "How stupid of me, you're the people that know that better than anyone else."
Toji sighs listlessly, "I guess..." His missing leg is covered up by a blanket but is otherwise obvious and there is a cellular regenerator attached to his left shoulder making his lost limbs entirely obvious. He is strapped to the bed and basically can't move except for his head.
"Well, you're going to get out of here sometime, right?" Shinn looks over to Toji and tries to smile. "I mean, I'd be surprised if you ever thought of even touching NERV hardware ever again, but you can get out of here when you're ready, right?"

The silence was deafening for a while before Shiro broke it.
"I heard of what happened back there."
He seemed to mull something over, he wanted to ask him a question, but it isn't appropriate for the moment, so he settled for...
"How long till they regenerate?"
