Seen two things today that made me feel small and warm but also big and on fire. This post was one and this video was the other:

Where'd y'all settle?

Rebirth - Tuesdays, Maple Leaf
Soul Rebels - Thursdays, Le Bon Temps

Hansen's snow bliz - go balls out w/the ice cream in the middle and condensed milk on top. You can stand the calories.

Humidity - blagh but your hair and skin will love you long time!

I'm so glad you're here. It's been weeks and I've been feeling blissed out, thinking it was because I'm doing all this mindful breathing and eating with intent crap when really it was b/c you landed here and blissed out the City of NO! xooxoxoox

edge of th Garden District, right offa St Charles

Is Hansen's th one right next to McKeown's Books on Tchoupitoulas?

My skin actually has been having a terrible time, mebbe ah'm still in an adjustment period, or th water's harder or something, or ah got to shower more frequently because of th humidity

Actually been avoiding going out because I'm pretending I'm totally broke to stretch my savings out a bit, but one of these nights I will make it out and will let you know

Favourite restaurant? Mine's Boucherie but ah realize ah only have begun to skim th surface

St. Chuck is pretty. I'm glad you're someplace pretty b/c some times/parts here are not so pretty.

Too many restaurants to pick a fave but last Friday, I did bring two friends out to Chalmette to Rocky & Carlo's. Not an everyday thing because it's noisy as all hell but what an experience. Veal parm, mac & cheese and you'll eat off it for three days.

Even the Gambit when they run the best-of's, have to break it all down by genre (ie: best po boy, pizza, gumbo, etc). You are in one eating city, friend.

When the time is right, we'll do a dinner thang!

I never comment on here, but I should say that I've always really liked these posts/writings of yours, and that it's one of the few reasons I ever log on to LJ anymore. Have you ever thought about collecting your writing from LJ into a format outside of LJ? Also: have you heard the recent-ish Alvarius B. cover of "You Only Live Twice" ? I really liked it.

thks for sticking w/ it, S. -- to steal an analogy from Bill Simmons, el jay (and mine in particular) remind me of an old dog who has lost a step and is almost ready to be put down -- not as fun as it was when it was a puppy, but you know it so well, and it knows you inside out, too, you actually appreciate it more than ever

It'd take a ton of editing to transfer this dog out of this doghouse -- a lot of stuff here is specific to el jay and its culture ...... ah'll think about that when th thing's done ... Th little picture book I did w/ Maria Sputnik came out pretty nice, but th post from which it was adapted was diff from most of my journ in that it was designed to stand on its own

Just listened to Alvarius B now, through th Y'tube miracle, sounds great, a couple steps happier than Nancy's, ah wonder if he meant to do that -- salamat hoe

i'm so sorry to undo the 33 comments

we miss you, fiercely. also, are you walking dogs yet? ALSO, more importantly, on the way home from AA's tour of D.C. for out-o-town guests, he and i were discussing livejournal (in hushed tones, my goodness) and how some people here write things that are technically good, but i can't bring myself to read them because i'm lazy for long form. but then we talked about the way people use LJ and how sometimes i feel like I'm writing such a lonnnnnnnng post because of what it wrings out of me, but then it always turns out to be four paragraphs. it's mysterious.

then we called you an artist of lj. and we both talked about missing you, again.

now that nobody's whingeing about "putting it under the cut" -- probably because there are so few posts, nobody even notices how much space mine have been taking up -- either that or they figured out that their whingeing about it never changed a damn thing -- anyhow, now everybody's more free than ever to do whatever they want w/ el gay. Giant picture barrage? OK. 45 paragraphs (as I did last month)? All right. Review 100 songs (as liamtheruiner has done regularly) including embedded Y'tube vids? No problem (although Billy uses th cut, so ah reckon that doesn't count).

Everybody really ought to go crazy now

Not walking dogs, just walking around looking @ other people's dogs
