(there's an older, black-american citizen in Pittsburgh name of .. Duane Irate Jones / i think he's some kinda folk singer. anyway, back in the day he read about the MOD SCENE in Britain and wanted to import something like that to the Town of Three Rivers. it's the mid.60's and people are mystified: "Duane, what is this Mod business you're all about? Help me understand what Mod is." .. so he puts on a leather jacket and punches himself in the face .)

Your comment about President Obama is totally spot-on.

I'm going to miss reading these entries. But it was great seeing you and your wife in NOLA! I had a lot of fun down there, now I'm in the cold Northeast, staying in for a low-key NYE. Here's to 2013.

v. good to see you, too, R. -- a low-key NYE doesn't seem to be in th cards for me this year -- I've got out of town guests who want to see NOLA being NOLA

Cheers

A happy new year to you too!

My grammar has fallen off since I finished school.

Whatever happened to Tricky?

I wish you can start back at #33 when that time comes.

i'm pretty sure Tricky kept making albums after Pre-Millennium, except nobody listened to them -- he and Martina had a chemistry that he wasn't able to duplicate or replace after she left

Thks for th support, P., I won't forget you in my el jay last will & testament

Nearly done? Really?
I remember seeing Ida and writing about them after a newspaper sent me to cover CMJay in 1996. I compared them to Fleetwood Mac I think. In a good way. The singers seemed to be singing strawberry letters to each other.
Hi Kevin. Oh, güd dogs. Get loved.

(hmm, i think Ida may be more Fleetwood Mac now than ever / with The Malarkies - whose "Perversity" was trooly great - as Buckingham Nicks. Rumors? haven't heard many. let's see: Karla Schickele's "Bad Day at Black Rock" was a, um, love song directed twards Austin Hughes of the Very Pleasant Neighbor [VPN?]. this is so terribly .. 10 .. plus years ago, i realize / "Are the Kings of Convenience the new Pozo-Seco Singers?" etc)

.. a-and always keen to pimp my webpage, here is, eh, DANNY KIRWAN REFERENCE OF THE DAY:

i personally believe that, eh, Ida still exists and that Ruth Keating is their drummer. given her powers, it's kind of a shame 'cause she could be KEITH FUCKING MOON - or William Hooker - in a different sonic environment.

website? yeah, sure, it is the one that Three Lobed Recordings founder Cory Rayborn is threatening to sue me over / a strange, strange thing, as the band records for Thrill Jockey, not Three Lobed ..

Having read the recent boigraphy on Wallace I discovered Franzen as a great writer. I had previously only thought well of him as along-time friend of Dave.

I suppose I ask because I wonder if you've ever heard of Olie and the Nightingales. In Episode Four, Season One Tommy Tate gets his due at least by one of the lead characters. He was a giant, but nobody remembers the name...or the song "A Little Overcome".
