I'm not really going to post on here anymore. I have a new blog. I'm just hanging around so I can look at all my fashion and German lj stuff. :)

So, I'm pretty much done with the U.S. There's not too much keeping me here (okay, I still need to pass the M.A exam in Spring!) so I'm going to start looking into jobs abroad. I'm not sure if I'll go home for a year after I graduate so I can work a bit and pay off loans or just take off and get a job elsewhere ( Read more... )

Me: Well, the day before Christmas, which is the 25th, is called Christmas Eve.

...but she does have a point. How is it already Christmas Eve?!?! And why don't I feel the happy, warm, Christmasy feeling anymore?

p.s- Yes, it's happy holidays, not JUST Merry Christmas!

I haven't updated in some time... probably because being an English compostion instructor and taking grad classes and a German class is so time consuming! It's the end of the quarter, though, and things are finally (FINALLY) starting to wrap up... People: You *can* resist _Twilight_/blatant sexism. I may be preaching to the choir here, but you never know. Expect a full article on the evils of "novels" such as _Twilight_ that remove all agency from women and glorify rape fantasies. Yes, I read the series. I HATE arrogant, condescending, complicated "scholarly articles" written by PhD grads. I just emptied my entire ink cartridge printing out an article that I was going to write about only to discover that I don't understand it at all. I can't even find the thesis. Teaching is SO draining... I just end up staring blankly at a wall in my office hoping nobody will come see me during my office hours. That way, I can just zone out and try to recover.
Then, of course, I start looking for my Halloween costume pieces. I think this costume is going to be very chic... with a touch of creepiness. Any guesses?

I like reading student essays. I HATE grading them. It feels too subjective. Or, if you try to be totally objective, grading isn't applicable. I'm afraid my students are going to be shocked to find that such a nice/friendly teacher is giving low grades ( Read more... )
