Heh, it's pretty scary that the Supreme Court has so much power. It's an essential branch of government, but that one guy (like Bush) can get lucky and stack the court with several (young) people from the same political persuasion is pretty much bullshit. I'm sure Justice Stevens is doing his best to keep from croaking before our Commander in Chimp leaves office. We should make an android clone of him just in case.
On the more positive side of things, arch-conservative Scalia is getting old, and with the current Democratic congress, it won't be easy for Bush to get people like Alito into office. Maybe Scalia will croak/retire under a Democrat president and we'll get a net gain.
With respect to the 22% of idiots who voted for president based on their desire to ban same-sex marriage, and lots of other stuff in that video, see my comments about a voting booth that fires dominionist fundies into the sun.In any case, this sort of stuff is why I've become much more outspoken lately. These nut cases can't be allowed to publicly
( ... )
I posted it to convert_me to see just what they thought about it.
It always amazes me that the religious of the US don't see that they have more to lose than the non-believer. I mean, after all, I could always just make some shit up like 'Einstein's God' and profess belief in that. For the religious, though, they may not just lose the right to decide that they believe, but to decide what they believe.
I agree with the analysis of what a true conservative would do / want; today's republicans are the "new christian order" mostly headed-up by rich-ass sycophants and - imnsho - domestic terrorists.
Anyway... before I start rambling ;-), thank you for sharing that!
