To be a SINGER, like any vocation-identity, suggests all sorts of weird requirements besides the obvious ones. I bet aspiring Writers picture long days spent sitting on sun-drenched leather furniture with ink stains all over their hands, and similarly, being a SINGER, to me, was this fantasy involving less unruly hair and a better face. I love this kind of stuff. Reading about people's philosophies behind the things that they do. This was a very engaging read and I wish I had something equally engaging to say in response.

It is interesting. It means a lot to me to be able to read this, to hear where you're coming from and the ways that you relate to your voice. I think the part that moves me the most, and that I appreciate in your previous "Bad." post as well, is how you seem to be exploring the edges of your survival tactics -- delineating how they've worked for you, but even more how they've cost you, and the desires they both satisfy and obliterate. We all make choices over time, choices that become habits, that can become truths... and then something happens, like a pile of Legos hitting the ground, and it interrupts those certainties for a moment. We have a chance to see the world differently -- to see ourselves differently ( ... )

Thanks so much for saying. You totally get it, what's on my mind with all this. And yes, it is absolutely about choices becoming habits becoming facts about ourselves... and possibilities/desires getting met/destroyed. I love the feeling of crossing your arms the other way -- it's totally the micro version of what it feels like for me to sing softly on stage, or to be treated carefully or gently by someone. It's foreign; I don't always like it. But it's important that it's not impossible, at least.

it's totally coven time.
