Not only is there an elephant in the room, but it's a dead elephant. Well, slightly more accurately, it's a dying elephant, and it's probably only a matter of days before it crosses the line into whatever heaven elephants in living rooms go to. After reading this, I'm thankful that my friends and family don't have this particular stigma. Thank you for sharing - and I hope you are able to spend the rest of your life remember the great things about her instead of being stifled. This was a well-written reminder that when those we love are gone, we are still alive, with the needs of the living.

This is a great tribute to your aunt, and good for you for finding the courage to speak up.

I shut my mouth, pick up my skirt, and join the pachyderm polka.

I loved this line for so many reasons, but it's lovely just on its own.
