I was sitting eating my breakfast today and i was thinking to myself about straight edge and veganism. Both are often times thought to be very pushy towards others. I mean who wants to be told what to do right? I dont like people coming up to me and shoving things into my face. Its your decision to live a certain way. i think the difference is that ads are less personal. if you look at the majority of vegan ads, they have a large tone of GUILT. now, usually I don't see beer companies advertising directly "Drink or people will not like you.", or mcdonalds advertising "these burgers will cry if they aren't eaten". i know that it's in veganism's attitude to provoke thought and be somewhat harsh, but honestly, the normal person doesn't like their choices and morality being slightly attacked by ads. if you want to go around spreading your beliefs, do it the way Old Navy does their commercials... haha.

yeah its harsh but what do you think works more? i think mcdonals with making people feel good works more. their ads are also lies and sugar coated. reality is reality. people need to be shown. much like the matrix
ok im stopping

well, if making people feel good works more, then why not make people feel good with veganism ads?

like, instead of "these animals lives depend on you", how about "by choosing not to eat animal products, your contribution could save *insert number* animals"

i think the agressive campaigns are because of the weakness associated with not eating meat. By taking a strong stance (like all good activists) we show people were not gunna go without a fight. Mcdonals doesnt have morality or issues to adress

I think that influences aren't simply what we eat and do with our time. I think the media influences everything. The media causes eating disorders and insecurities. It takes strong people to put those messages aside to see what they really want to do and be. So the media does influence people's decisions to drink or do drugs or eat a certain way but that in the end is just that, their decision.
