Queen Elizabeth II

Hey there. I've taken a little time out following the passing of Queen Elizabeth II. I have so much gratitude and respect for this great lady. Her passing really affected me, as it has so many others. I've found it very calming and meditative to have the BBC live stream of the lying-in-state playing on my phone while I've been working and ( Read more... )

Thank you, Addie. I didn't think this day would ever actually come. It's ridiculous, I know, but I think most of us were expecting her to just keep on going forever! It's lovely to think there will be a little group of us LJ friends watching the funeral together, even though we'll be some considerable distance apart. *hugs you too*

Thank you so much. I agree - it's a huge shock, but it feels easier to come to terms with following the various ceremonial events, lying-in-state and today's funeral services in London at Windsor. I feel we've given Her Majesty a really good send-off, it was all properly done. *hugs you*

It's a huge loss, felt by so many of us. She was an amazing queen, and I love seeing the devotion being shown by those who are paying their respects. I'll be watching the funeral. Thanks for the info about it. *hugs*

So true, Casey. Today's funeral was just amazing. The sheer scale of it was astounding. We watched it all the way through until a couple of hours ago, when she was finally laid to rest in St George's Chapel in Windsor. I believe the Royal Family are having a private service right now, where the coffins off the Queen and her late husband, the Duke of Edinburgh, are being moved to the vault where her father, mother and sister are resting.

I hope you got to watch it, too. It's nice to think of LJ friends watching it together, albeit virtually! *hugs you too*

I'm sorry for your nation's loss.

Our King and Queen were there at the funeral, too.
