Well, that's the typical ending. That, or "And if they're still alive, why, they're there still!" or something along those lines.
Although, of course, some authors have been moving away with that...Drosselmeyer's fairy tales normally ended in tragedy.

Oh, but a tragedy isn't an ending. It's just a cloud that hasn't found it's silver lining yet. I think this Drosselmeyer must be stopping his stories in the wrong place!
