Scale Obsession

My scales are driving me crazy. Or rather, I am driving myself crazy over my scales. I bought another scale today so now I have 5. They ALL weigh me as something slightly different. WTF?? Not crazy different but different enough to make me nuts. The difference is 1.2 lbs meaning that scale 1 weighs me at X and scale 5 weighs me at X + 1.2. The ( Read more... )

Wow. I can imagine being driven nuts with the scales. That would drive me mad. but they are all saying about the same, so it's the calibration that's slightly off. But I know that a pound can feel like a huge deal!

Good luck at the appointments. I hope that things go smoothly. There are times that hunger bothers me so I eat enough to shut it up. And then there are times that it feels good. I never know what it will be.

Wow girl, just reading this made me feel stressed. I can't imagine having 5 scales, one is hard enough. I think you'd feel better if you just had one that you stuck with every day. Clearly having more is not helping you, so why keep doing it? What benefit do you get from it?

I'm really worried about your health. I'm worried that you might not make it to the next hospitalization. I'm kind of surprised that your GP didn't admit you now. Why wait for things to get worse? I'm really scared for you.

I agree with bookgurrl. I'm really surprised you haven't been admitted yet. please be careful!

5 scales?! holy crap. I can't handle ONE scale...much less 5. it is my professional opinion (ha!) that you need to take a sledge hammer to the other 4. good day. :)

Use scale 1 if it is the lowest. Good luck with your progress, I know how you feel about not eating, it just makes you want to eat more if you start.

wow that does sound really stressful.

I don't know what your GP said and I think that sometimes especially non-ed-trained doctors can be harsh about EDs.
However I also know it was not a "threat" because it IS the consequence if you don't eat (and not because the GP wants that.) I don't LIKE to say such things but it needs to be said sometimes. I'm worried that it doesn't scare you.
